WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – The Coast Guard successfully rescued three boaters from Captiva Island, Florida, after their vessel capsized, leaving them stranded at sea for nearly nine hours. The incident unfolded late Saturday evening when a family member reported concerns about the trio's well-being at 1 a.m. on Sunday, having not heard from them since 8 p.m. the previous night.
By 6 a.m. Sunday, a Coast Guard helicopter crew from Clearwater located the stranded boaters clinging to the hull of their overturned boat. Immediate action was taken when a boat crew from the Coast Guard in Fort Myers Beach reached the scene, facilitating the rescue operation. Following their retrieval, the three individuals were transported to HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers for an emergency medical evaluation.
