On February 27, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., RCMP officers responded to reports of a stabbing incident in Millbrook, a northern Nova Scotia community situated northeast of Truro. Upon their arrival at a residence located on Coach Road, they discovered that a man had not only stabbed another man but had also robbed him before subsequently attacking a woman.
The victims, a 64-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both residents of Truro, sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. In the aftermath of the attacks, the suspect attempted to flee in one of the victim's SUVs. However, the quick response of the police helped in tracking down the whereabouts of the accused.
Following their investigations, law enforcement officials received information indicating that the assailant had also robbed a nearby gas station during his escape. The RCMP were able to locate the stolen Kia Sportage on Highway 102, but the vehicle ultimately crashed into a ditch. At the scene of the crash, police apprehended a 40-year-old man from Truro, who was found to be in possession of two knives at the time of his arrest.
The accused, identified as Harry Arthur Cope, is now facing a multitude of serious charges. These charges include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of assault with a weapon. Additionally, Cope is charged with two counts of uttering threats, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of robbery. He is also facing four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Cope has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The investigation into the incidents is still ongoing, and authorities are receiving assistance from Colchester County District RCMP.
