"Halifax Search Yields Guns, Drugs, and Arrest"

RCMP officers executed two search warrants that led to the arrest of one man with 10 charges in Halifax Regional Municipality

On March 27, 2025, officers from the Halifax detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) executed two search warrants in the Halifax Regional Municipality, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Judson Lamar Thompson, from North Preston. This operation was a result of an ongoing investigation into firearms and drug trafficking activities in the area.

The street crime enforcement unit targeted two residences: one located on Willis Lane in North Preston and another on Paris Lane. As part of the search, officers discovered significant quantities of illegal items, including two handguns, multiple magazines, and ammunition. Additionally, they seized methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, a quantity of cash, and several cell phones.

Following the search, Judson Lamar Thompson was taken into custody and is now facing a total of ten charges related to drug and weapons offenses. These charges include possession of methamphetamines with intent to traffic, as well as multiple counts concerning the unauthorized possession and careless use of firearms. Specifically, the charges he faces encompass the following:

  • Possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts)
  • Careless use of a firearm (two counts)
  • Contravention of storage regulations (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon (two counts)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts)
  • Possession of a device knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition (two counts)
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence (two counts)

Judson Lamar Thompson appeared in court on the same day of his arrest and is currently remanded in custody as legal proceedings continue.
