The Nova Scotia provincial government has committed to enhancing the Nova Scotia Stampede, following a successful inaugural event. An allocation of $150,000 has been dedicated to directly support the festival, while an additional $550,000 will be invested in portable bleachers for the Nova Scotia Exhibition grounds located in Bible Hill. This initiative aims to improve the experience for both spectators and participants in future events.
The Nova Scotia Stampede uniquely combines professional rodeo, live entertainment, and local vendors, garnering praise for its potential to draw visitors to the region. According to a report by Sport Tourism Canada, the festival generated an impressive $2.2 million in net economic activity, benefiting the communities of Truro and Bible Hill significantly.
Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, Dave Ritcey, expressed his enthusiasm about the event, stating that it highlights the rich culture and hospitality of Nova Scotia. He emphasized the importance of investing in cultural and sports events as a means to attract tourists, boost the economy, and foster vibrant communities. The economic impact of the event is evident, as spectators spent just over $1.1 million during their visit, primarily on accommodations, dining, and shopping.
Attendance statistics also showcase the event's reach, with over half (52.6 percent) of participants coming from outside the immediate area. An impressive 83 percent of attendees indicated that they would be “very likely” to return for the Stampede in the following year. This strong turnout indicates a bright future for the festival, with high expectations for growth in upcoming years.
Looking forward to 2025, Matt Moore, CEO of Central Nova Scotia Sports & Entertainment, highlighted the unique blend of culture, sports, heritage, and hospitality that the Stampede offers. The positive reception from both local inhabitants and visitors reinforces their commitment to enhancing the event's reputation as a leading attraction in Nova Scotia.
Tickets for the Nova Scotia Stampede are currently on sale, with a lineup of musical headliners announced that includes notable artists such as Brett Kissel, James Barker Band, and Jimmy Rankin. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 21, 2024, bringing excitement and anticipation to the region as it prepares for yet another thrilling year.
