"Two Arrested After Midnight Police Chase in Halifax"

Halifax Regional Police say two people will be in court at a later date after an incident on the peninsula over the weekend

Halifax Regional Police reported an incident that took place on the peninsula over the weekend, resulting in two individuals set to appear in court at a later date. The incident occurred early Saturday morning in the vicinity of Allan Street and Monastery Lane, near Quinpool Road.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., police attempted to pull over a vehicle that had an expired license plate. However, the driver refused to stop and instead fled through nearby Flynn Park. During the attempt to evade capture, the driver struck both a curb and a stop sign, leading to the two suspects abandoning the vehicle on foot.

Subsequently, both suspects were apprehended by law enforcement officials. The arrested individuals included a 32-year-old man who is facing multiple charges, including flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and refusal to comply with a demand for testing. Authorities confirmed that this individual will appear in court at a later date to face these charges.

In addition, a 40-year-old woman was also arrested during the incident. She is facing charges related to failure to comply with a probation order. Like her male counterpart, she too will be appearing in court at a future date as specified by the Halifax Regional Police.

This incident raises questions about the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in handling vehicle-related offenses and the subsequent actions taken by individuals seeking to evade police authority. The apprehension of the suspects demonstrates the commitment of the Halifax Regional Police to maintain safety and uphold the law in the community.
