"Mooseheads Secure 1-0 Shutout in Quebec"

The Halifax Mooseheads wrapped up their final Quebec road trip of the season with a 1-0 win over the Quebec Remparts at the Videotron Centre on Saturday evening

The Halifax Mooseheads concluded their final road trip to Quebec for the season with a narrow victory, winning 1-0 against the Quebec Remparts at the Videotron Centre on Saturday evening. This hard-fought match showcased strong defensive performances from both teams, but it was the Mooseheads who managed to secure the win with a solitary goal.

Amelio Santini was the hero of the night, scoring the only goal of the game just 30 seconds into the second period. He accomplished this by deftly redirecting Shawn Carrier’s shot through a crowd, leaving Remparts goaltender Louis-Antoine Denault unable to react in time. The Mooseheads’ goal not only lifted the spirits of their fans but also set the tone for the remainder of the game.

The Remparts, eager to respond, appeared to have equalized during a powerplay opportunity. They successfully redirected a puck past Mooseheads’ goaltender Jacob Steinman, but the goal was disallowed after a quick review by the officials, who deemed the play offside. This decision was pivotal, as it kept the Mooseheads ahead and allowed them to maintain their slim lead throughout the game.

With this victory, the Halifax Mooseheads improved their season record to 16 wins, 25 losses, and 7 overtime losses, while the Quebec Remparts fell to 18 wins, 24 losses, and 4 overtime losses. The game not only marked a significant win for the Mooseheads but also demonstrated their resilience and ability to perform under pressure, especially in a challenging away game.

The standout performer for Halifax was Jacob Steinman, who was awarded first star honors after delivering an impressive performance with 40 saves, marking the team’s first shutout of the season. Steinman’s efforts were crucial in preserving the lead and in keeping the Remparts at bay, showcasing his skills as a dependable goaltender. Second star honors went to Louis-Antoine Denault for his solid play despite the loss, while Amelio Santini received the third star for his decisive goal that sealed the victory for the Mooseheads.

Looking ahead, the Mooseheads are set to return to their home turf at the Scotiabank Centre, where they will host the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Friday, February 7th. Fans can look forward to puck drop at 7 p.m., with pre-game coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. on 95.7 NewsRadio, featuring the Mr. Lube Pre-Game Show hosted by Garreth MacDonald.
