Super Bowl Ticket Prices Drop 56% from Last Year

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — If you’re still planning to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday, you can expect a price drop compared to last year

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — If you are still considering attending the Super Bowl this Sunday, the good news is that ticket prices have experienced a notable drop compared to the previous year. The entry-level ticket price is currently around $2,600, as reported by StubHub. According to the company's spokesperson, Adam Budelli, while some tickets remain available, they are selling rapidly.

Budelli highlighted that this year’s ticket prices are significantly cheaper than the previous Super Bowl, which set a record as the most expensive in history on StubHub. The current entry price reflects a staggering decrease of 56%, making this Super Bowl much more accessible, although Budelli was cautious not to label it as “affordable.” The average ticket price has also seen a decline, dropping to approximately $6,900, which is a 17% reduction from last year.

Several factors contribute to this decrease in ticket prices. Budelli points out that the Caesars Superdome, this year’s venue, has the capacity to accommodate over 15,000 more fans. Additionally, the availability of hotel rooms has increased, and there may be an element of fan fatigue among attendees who have recently seen their teams win. The Kansas City Chiefs, for instance, have clinched the last two Super Bowls, including a tight win against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. Budelli notes the challenge for fans to justify spending upwards of $10,000 each year to watch the same team, especially after witnessing a victory.

Interestingly, the data suggests that Eagles fans are currently leading in ticket sales. Earlier in the week, ticket sales from Pennsylvania showed a double-digit percentage lead over purchases from Kansas and Missouri. However, this gap has narrowed, with Budelli reporting a 14% increase in ticket purchases from Chiefs fans, shrinking the margin to around 15% from Pennsylvania and approximately 9% from Kansas and Missouri. Although Eagles fans still maintain the lead in ticket purchases, the numbers for Chiefs fans may improve as the weekend approaches.

Budelli also emphasized that despite the lower prices this year, last year's Super Bowl in Las Vegas set a unique precedent. This year’s ticket prices are returning to levels more consistent with previous years, specifically before the Las Vegas anomaly in 2024. The trends indicate an intriguing dynamic in the lead-up to the event, as the football rivalry intensifies between the Eagles and the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl is set to take place at the iconic Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, further solidifying its reputation as a prime location for one of the biggest sporting events in the United States. With both teams bringing passionate fanbases, the atmosphere is expected to be electric on game day, regardless of ticket pricing trends.
