Apple has launched the iPhone 16e, a more sophisticated and pricier variant of its previously lowest-priced iPhone model, in a strategic move to tap into a broader audience for its artificial intelligence technology. The iPhone 16e, revealed on Wednesday, represents the fourth generation of a model traditionally offered at a significantly lower price compared to Apple’s standard and premium models. Its predecessor, the iPhone SE, was last updated in 2022. The new model's pricing reflects its upgraded features, with a starting cost set at $600, marking a 40% increase from the previous SE model's price of $430. However, it remains more economical than the baseline iPhone 16, which retails for $800.

Aligned with the premium iPhone 16 lineup introduced last September, the iPhone 16e is equipped with a powerful chip designed to enhance its capabilities in artificial intelligence.
